Eight people who would rather be somewhere else, slowly

(01) Why we started
Sojourn began in 2011 with one trip to the Atlas Mountains, planned for two friends who hated being herded.
We still work the same way. Every journey is planned by one person, who has usually walked the route themselves. We keep our list of hosts short and personal, and we say no to places that are better left alone for a while.
We plan about ninety journeys a year. That number has not changed in a long time, and we would like to keep it that way.
(02) What we hold to
01
Fewer places, longer stays
Three bases in two weeks, not seven. You will unpack, and you will remember where you were.
02
Hosts, not guides
The people who meet you live there. They take you to their friends’ kitchens, not to a souvenir stop.
03
Honest about seasons
If it rains for a month, we tell you. If it is better in April, we will say so, even if you wanted May.
